Eight steps to export …
- First, ensure that export is appropriate for your company and develop an export strategy to plan your overseas expansion.
- Research your proposed markets – identify the distributors, networks, advisors and others you will need to enable you to sell into your targeted countries.
- Understand the relevant legal, tariff, customs, export, freight and currency documentation you will need.
- Ensure your marketing material – website, brochures, etc. are culturally and linguistically appropriate.
- Work out your export pricing strategy allowing for freight, distribution etc.
- Learn the relevant business etiquette for face to face meetings, sales and negotiations.
- Check out the trade missions, delegations, expos, or other opportunities to visit your targeted markets.
- Explore grants such as the Export Marketing Development Grant.
